Youth Consultation Services

YCS provides services to New Jersey families who have children with special needs.  Some of the children at their group homes are separated from their loved ones, have been affected by trauma, or have other intellectual and developmental disabilities. Every year we donate our time and talent to create invitations, reply cards and the program cover for the YCS Festival of Flavors - their largest annual fundraiser.

The big idea, for the little people

The big idea, for the little people

The concept was simple. Spend time visiting the kids and let them know they will be contributing to the design. We would visit them in the group home, help them create artwork from various types of food, and photograph their creations on location.

To prepare for our visit, we created six fun and simple shapes and printed them on thick stock for the kids to use as their work surface. We also purchased various types of candies, snacks, and other goodies that the kids could use for their art. We packed up all our stuff, brought along our camera, and headed over for our visit.

The invite and program cover were a big hit with the YCS staff.

We felt it was important to give the kids recognition for their work. Since we were not allowed to include any names we added a small line of copy in the lower corner.

A fun time was had by all.

A fun time was had by all.

We created a full-page ad in the program which tied it in with the overall concept. Our whole crew was able to attend the festivities.
