In the past 2 + decades that I've been working in the creative industry, I've worn many hats: Designer, Art Director, and Creative Director. I've grown to love all of them for various reasons but the common thread has always been developing creative solutions - no matter what the challenge.
These are some of the key responsibilities I've handled in my most recent role as a CD:
- Lead the direction and design of marketing materials from concept to creation
- Manage the creative team, lead the hiring of new creative talent, and build relationships with freelance talent
- Inspire the creative team to produce the best work possible
- Evaluate concepts, copy and art, and provide direction throughout the development of creative
- Ensure the design team has access to various creative resources
- Promote a culture of open sharing of ideas and honest feedback
- Implement new ways to streamline the internal design and workflow processes
- Meet with clients to present new work and review work in progress
